Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about FireFly Home custom-fit stove top liners — material safety, compatibility, cleaning, and how we compare to generic alternatives.
Product & MaterialWhat is a FireFly Home stove top liner?
A FireFly Home stove top liner is a custom-cut protective mat that sits on top of your range or cooktop to catch spills, splatters, and burnt-on food before they reach the stove surface. Each liner is designed for a specific appliance brand and model, with precise cutouts for burners, grates, ignition switches, and control knobs — so it lies flat, stays in place, and protects the entire cooktop without blocking any functional parts.
What material are FireFly Home liners made of?
FireFly Home gas range liners are made of 10mil PTFE-coated fiberglass. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is a food-safe, non-stick coating used in commercial kitchens and industrial food processing. The fiberglass substrate is flame retardant and heat resistant, which makes it safe for direct contact with gas cooktops at normal cooking temperatures. Our induction liners use food-grade silicone, and our electric stove covers use a heat-resistant composite.
Is PTFE safe for cooking surfaces?
Yes. PTFE is safe at normal cooking temperatures and is the same food-safe non-stick coating used on many cookware brands. FireFly Home liners are made with PFOA-free and BPA-free PTFE, meaning they do not contain perfluorooctanoic acid (the chemical that was phased out of non-stick cookware years ago) or bisphenol A. At the temperatures produced by normal home cooking — under 500°F at the liner surface — PTFE is inert, non-toxic, and does not release harmful fumes. We do recommend avoiding direct flame contact and never placing the liner in an open oven.
Is PTFE the same as Teflon?
Yes — Teflon is a brand name owned by Chemours, and the actual material is PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene). FireFly Home uses generic PTFE coating, which is chemically identical to Teflon but not branded. Today's PTFE, including ours, is manufactured without PFOA, the chemical that caused concern with older non-stick cookware. Current-generation PTFE is considered safe by the FDA for food-contact surfaces.
Are FireFly Home liners safe for pets and children?
Yes. FireFly Home liners are PFOA-free, BPA-free, and contain no heavy metals or toxic additives. At normal cooking temperatures the PTFE coating is inert and does not off-gas, making the liners safe to use in homes with children, pets, and birds. As with any kitchen accessory, we recommend keeping the liner away from open flames and never using it in an oven or microwave.
Fit & CompatibilityHow do I know if a FireFly Home liner fits my stove?
Every FireFly Home liner is labeled with the appliance brand, range type (gas, electric, or induction), and compatible model numbers. Before ordering, compare the layout image on the product page to your own stove top, and verify the model number against the listing. If you cannot find your model, check our Finding the Model Number guide or email our support team — we'll help you identify the right liner.
Where do I find my range model number?
Most range model numbers are printed on a label inside the oven door, on the side of the oven door frame, or on the back of the range. On some models the label is hidden behind the bottom warming drawer or storage drawer. The model number is usually a mix of letters and numbers (for example: FFGF3054TS for a Frigidaire gas range). Our Finding the Model Number guide includes photos showing where to look for each brand.
Which range brands do you make liners for?
FireFly Home currently makes custom-cut stove top liners for Frigidaire, GE, LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, Maytag, and KitchenAid ranges and cooktops. We cover gas ranges, electric ranges, induction cooktops, and built-in cooktops for these brands. If you own a different brand or a discontinued model, email our support team — we may still be able to help or add your model to our catalog.
Do you make liners for induction cooktops?
Yes. Our induction cooktop liners use a food-grade silicone material that is safe for use directly on an induction surface without blocking the magnetic field. They protect the glass from scratches, spills, and scuffs from pots and pans, and they can be safely removed and replaced while the cooktop is cool.
Do FireFly Home liners come in different colors?
FireFly Home gas range liners are available in black and silver, so you can match or contrast with your stove finish. Electric stove covers and induction liners are available in neutral tones that blend with most kitchens.
Use & CleaningHow do I clean a FireFly Home stove liner?
Cleaning is the whole point of a FireFly Home liner. For daily messes, simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth or sponge — the PTFE non-stick coating releases grease and food particles without scrubbing. For a deeper clean, the liner is 100% dishwasher safe: place it on the top rack and run a normal cycle. You can also hand-wash it in warm soapy water. Avoid abrasive scrubbers, steel wool, or harsh chemicals, which can damage the non-stick coating over time.
Can I leave the liner on the stove while I cook?
Yes — that's how it's designed to be used. FireFly Home gas range liners are flame retardant and heat resistant at normal cooking temperatures, and they have precise cutouts around burners so flames never contact the material. You can cook, boil, fry, and simmer with the liner in place, and it will catch any spills, splatters, or boil-overs before they reach the stove surface.
Will the liner melt, warp, or catch fire?
Under normal cooking conditions, no. Our PTFE-coated fiberglass liners are rated for continuous use up to approximately 500°F and the cutouts keep the material away from direct flame contact. The liner will not melt from normal stovetop heat, warm oil splashes, or a hot pan placed on its surface. You should avoid direct contact with an open flame, and you should never place the liner inside an oven, under a broiler, or in a microwave.
Is the liner reusable? How long does it last?
Yes — FireFly Home liners are reusable for years with normal use and cleaning. Unlike disposable aluminum foil–style protectors that you throw out after a few uses, our PTFE-coated fiberglass is built to last. Most customers report 2–5 years of everyday use before the non-stick coating begins to wear down at high-traffic contact points. The 1-year warranty covers manufacturing defects during that first year.
Comparison & AlternativesHow is FireFly Home different from the stove liners on Amazon?
The biggest difference is custom fit. Amazon sells one-size-fits-all fiberglass mats that you cut to size with scissors. They shift while you cook, bunch up around the grates, and cover ignition switches and control knobs. FireFly Home liners are pre-cut to match a specific range model, with precise openings for every burner, grate, and functional part. No trimming, no guessing, no shifting — the liner lies flat the first time and stays that way.
Is FireFly Home better than Reynolds Wrap stove top protectors?
They serve different purposes. Reynolds Wrap stove top protectors are disposable aluminum foil — you use them once or twice and throw them away. They protect against spills but offer no long-term savings and create a lot of waste. FireFly Home liners are reusable for years, which is cheaper over time, far less wasteful, and gives your stove a cleaner look because the liner is cut to fit rather than folded into place.
Shipping, Returns, & WarrantyHow long does shipping take?
FireFly Home ships from Columbia, Maryland. Standard shipping within the United States takes 3–7 business days after the order is processed. Orders are typically processed within 1 business day. You will receive a tracking number by email once your order ships.
What is your return policy?
FireFly Home offers a 30-day return policy. Items must be unused, in their original condition, and returned in the original packaging with all documentation. Return shipping is paid by the buyer. Refunds are processed within 2 business days of receipt and inspection. Damage caused by improper use, accidents, or modifications to the product is not covered.
What is the warranty on a FireFly Home liner?
Every FireFly Home liner comes with a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects. If your liner arrives damaged, has a cutting error, or fails under normal use within the first year, we'll replace it. The warranty does not cover damage from misuse (open flame, oven use, abrasive scrubbing) or normal wear at the end of the product's useful life.
